Questions and Answers

NinjaTrader Development FAQ

Review common questions about project fit, pricing, strategy rules, script repair, Pine Script conversion, ownership, delivery, and trading-software risk.

What types of NinjaTrader projects do you accept?

Trade Code Works reviews custom indicators, automated or semi-automated strategies, NinjaScript utilities, existing-script repairs, Pine Script conversions, order-flow tools, and specialized chart workflows.

How do I submit a project?

Use the project form at /submit-project/ or email projects@tradecodeworks.com with the project type, platform version, written rules, screenshots, files, and desired delivery format.

What information should I provide?

Provide the expected behavior, input settings, chart examples, screenshots, error messages, NinjaTrader version, source code when legally available, and any deadline or budget range.

Do you accept every project?

No. Projects are reviewed for fit, legality, clarity, feasibility, platform constraints, and available requirements before a quote is prepared.

Can I request an NDA?

Yes. You can request an NDA in the submission form. The need for an NDA can be discussed before detailed materials are reviewed.

Can I email my project instead?

Yes. Email projects@tradecodeworks.com with your project details. Do not send brokerage passwords, account passwords, or unrelated financial credentials.

How much does custom NinjaTrader development cost?

Pricing depends on scope, complexity, automation, data requirements, testing, delivery format, ownership terms, and whether discovery is required.

What is paid discovery?

Paid discovery is a limited scoping phase used when requirements are too complex or ambiguous for an accurate fixed quote without further review.

Do you provide fixed-price quotes?

When the requirements are clear enough, a fixed project quote can be provided. Complex projects may first require paid discovery.

What causes a project price to change?

Price can change if the scope changes, rules are incomplete, platform constraints appear, additional testing is needed, or source-code ownership is requested.

Are revisions included?

Revisions, acceptance criteria, support, and change-request terms are defined in the written quote or project agreement.

Is submitting a project free?

Submitting a project for initial review is free. Paid discovery or development begins only after written terms are accepted.

Can you build a custom NinjaTrader indicator?

Yes. Custom indicators can include plots, markers, alerts, colors, inputs, drawing behavior, and chart workflow support.

Can you build an automated strategy or trading bot?

Yes, if the entry, exit, risk, and trade-management rules are complete enough to implement as software.

Do I need complete trading rules?

Automated strategies require complete rules. Indicators may start with examples, but calculation and display behavior still need to be clearly defined.

Can you invent a profitable strategy for me?

No. Trade Code Works does not invent trading systems, provide investment advice, or guarantee profitability.

Can you guarantee profitable performance?

No. Software, backtests, simulations, and hypothetical results do not guarantee future performance.

Can a strategy be backtested?

Some strategies can be reviewed in historical or simulated contexts, but backtests are hypothetical and differ from live results.

Can you repair an existing script?

Yes, when source code is legally available and the problem or requested modification can be clearly described.

Do you need source code?

Most repair, modification, and conversion work requires source code or a complete legal specification.

Can you convert Pine Script to NinjaTrader?

Often, yes, when the Pine Script or logic is legally supplied and the expected behavior is feasible in NinjaTrader.

Can every TradingView script be converted exactly?

No. TradingView and NinjaTrader differ in language, data handling, chart behavior, and platform assumptions.

Can you copy a protected commercial indicator?

No. Trade Code Works does not decompile, copy, or reproduce protected commercial software without legal rights.

Can you update an older NinjaTrader script?

Often, yes, if the source code is available and the desired behavior remains feasible in the current platform.

Will I receive source code?

Source-code delivery is available by quote. Standard delivery may be compiled, while full project-specific source-code buyout costs more and must be defined in writing.

What is compiled delivery?

Compiled delivery provides an importable package without releasing full source code. Exact terms are defined in the project agreement.

Can I purchase full project-specific source code?

Yes, when quoted and defined in the accepted agreement. Preexisting reusable libraries are excluded unless expressly purchased.

Can I resell or distribute the completed software?

Distribution rights are not automatic. They must be specifically defined in the written project agreement.

Do you offer customer-specific licensing?

Customer-specific compiled licensing may depend on project requirements and current NinjaTrader vendor-program eligibility. Delivery terms are defined in the written project agreement.

What happens after final payment?

Final delivery is provided according to the accepted project terms, including compiled files, documentation, source code, or support terms when included.

Is Trade Code Works a financial adviser?

No. Trade Code Works provides software-development services and does not provide investment, trading, tax, or financial advice.

Does a backtest guarantee future performance?

No. Backtests are hypothetical and do not guarantee future results. Live trading can differ substantially from simulated results.

Who is responsible for testing before live use?

The customer is responsible for independent testing before using any software in a live trading environment.

Can software fail?

Yes. Software may contain defects or behave unexpectedly because of platform, data, hardware, internet, brokerage, or user-configuration issues.

Should I provide brokerage credentials?

No. Customers should never provide brokerage passwords, account passwords, financial credentials, or unrelated API secrets through the project form or email.
